Childbirth is a crucial point in woman’s life. Woman’s self-image completely changes after her firstborn comes into this world, as she becomes mature. Delivery, just as pregnancy, requires physical and psychological preparation. You must visit a local clinic for women in Odessa or a doctor that you trust.
Delivery can be divided into 3 stages, lasting from 1 to 24 hours total. First delivery lasts for 14 hours usually. Experience of clinics for women in Odessa shows that repeated delivery lasts for 5 to 6 hours on average.
Three major stages of delivery:
Cervix opening. It happens due to regular contractions.
Fetal expulsion from uterine cavity. At this stage child is moved through birth canal by bearing down (voluntary muscle contractions performed by woman in labor) and involuntary contractions.
Postpartum period. Placenta develops.
Regular contractions and/or water breaking mark onset of labor. Woman should call doctor and go to the hospital the moment regular contractions start occurring 10 or less minutes apart. Dilation period is the longest one and can last for up to 10 or 11 hours, if a woman is first-time mother. If she’s not, it lasts for 6 to 7 hours on average.
This is the hardest stage, as contractions become more frequent and more painful. Woman gets strong urges after the cervix has been fully dilated. This is when doctor allows to start bearing down. Second stage lasts from 15 minutes to several hours. Doctors watch woman and fetus with great attention, regularly checking their vitals. Newborn baby is put on mother’s stomach. Umbilical cord is cut by either nurse or a doctor after it stops pulsing.
Placenta’s integrity is examined. Woman undergoes suturing if she needs to. After that, she is left to rest in the delivery room for several hours while being carefully monitored. Delivery is over. Recently confined mother feels very happy.
